Gluten Free Dublin: The Ultimate Guide to Celiac-Friendly Eats
Traveling gluten-free can feel like rolling the dice—sometimes you strike gold, other times you end up with nothing but fries and a sad side salad. Since I (Dylan) have recently been diagnosed with celiac disease, we were especially cautious when planning our trip, and weren’t sure what eating gluten-free in Dublin would be like. After all, Irish food is famous for hearty stews, crusty bread, fried fish, pub grub… not exactly celiac-friendly on paper.
But here’s the twist: Dublin turned out to be one of the easiest cities we’ve visited for gluten-free dining! In this guide, we’re sharing all the best gluten-free spots in Dublin that we tried (and loved). Whether you’re celiac, gluten sensitive, or just looking to eat lighter while traveling, you won’t leave Dublin hungry.
Quick Tips for Eating Gluten Free in Dublin

- Celiac / Coeliac awareness is high. Ireland has one of the highest rates of celiac disease in Europe, so most restaurants in Dublin understand cross-contamination and take gluten-free requests seriously.
- Menus are usually well-labeled. Look for “GF” or “GF option” next to dishes. If you’re celiac, confirm whether the item is naturally gluten-free or needs an adjustment in the kitchen.
- Pub culture is safe to enjoy. Many pubs offer gluten-free meals, and you’ll often find cider or even gluten-free beer on tap.
- Dedicated GF spots exist. While plenty of restaurants are gluten aware, Dublin also has a couple of dedicated gluten-free restaurants where you can eat stress-free.
- Use apps and resources. “Find Me Gluten Free” and local Facebook groups can help you double-check spots before you go.
Best Gluten Free Restaurants in Dublin
Dublin is packed with restaurants that either have clearly marked menus or fully dedicated gluten-free kitchens. These are the sit-down spots we tried (and loved):
BoBo’s Burgers

If you’re craving comfort food, BoBo’s is the spot. Their burgers are juicy, filling, and come with gluten-free buns that actually taste normal (no crumbly, cardboard vibes here)! They’ve got plenty of burger options to choose from, so there’s something for everyone. What makes this place even better is that they use a separate fryer, so the fries are safe for celiacs. We both left full and happy!
Pacino's Italian Restaurant

Craving Italian food in Dublin? Pacino’s has you covered. Their gluten-free margherita pizza hit the spot—crispy crust, melty cheese, and just the right amount of sauce. They also offer several gluten-free pasta dishes, so you don’t have to miss out on a proper Italian night out. Cozy atmosphere and plenty of celiac-friendly choices make this one a win.
Zizzi’s

Zizzi’s won us over right away—the first thing they asked when we walked in was if we had any allergies, and then handed us a full allergen guide. The atmosphere was cozy and calm with dim lighting, perfect for a relaxing dinner. We tried the bolognese with gluten-free pasta (so good) and the chicken spiedini, both clearly marked with gluten-free stickers on the plates for extra peace of mind.
The real star of the night, though? A gluten-free raspberry cheesecake for dessert—something we rarely find while traveling. We left seriously impressed!
Beshoff's

If you’re looking for traditional fish and chips in Dublin, Beshoff’s is the place to go. The vibe leans more toward fast food, but there’s plenty of seating if you want to dine in after ordering. The gluten-free fish and chips are the real highlight—crispy, golden, and safe for celiacs.
Gluten Free Cafés & Brunch Spots
From cozy cafés to trendy brunch spots, gluten free options are everywhere. Perfect for a slower morning or a mid-day break.
Lemon Jelly Café

A nice spot that’s great for breakfast or brunch. Almost all of their crêpes can be made gluten-free, which makes the menu feel wide open instead of limited. That said, there are mixed reviews online about cross-contamination, so if you’re strictly celiac (like us), it’s worth asking a few extra questions before ordering.
POG

A laid-back café perfect for a morning pick-me-up. They offer gluten-free pancakes and acai bowls, making it easy to enjoy a sweet or healthy breakfast without worrying about gluten.
Pubs with Gluten-Free Options
Good news: you don’t have to skip Dublin’s legendary pub culture. Many pubs are celiac-aware and even carry gluten-free beers or ciders. However, we do want to put it out there that the famous Temple Bar is NOT the place to go if you’re celiac. There are very little to no options, and the place is extremely crowded.
The Brazen Head

As the oldest pub in Dublin, The Brazen Head is full of history and character. The atmosphere is classic pub—warm, bustling, and massive in size. Gluten-free options are limited, but we loved the pan-fried cod and the traditional Brazen beef stew. If you’re craving an authentic Irish pub experience with safe GF choices, this one’s a must-visit.
Gallaghers Boxty House
We didn’t get a chance to visit, but Gallagher’s Boxty House consistently gets glowing reviews for gluten-free dining. Most menu items can be made gluten-free, and all dishes have allergens clearly listed. Standout options include fried calamari, fish & chips, lamb dishes, and even gluten-free cheesecake.
Gluten Free Bakeries & Sweet Treats
Gluten-free options for sweets in Dublin are limited—there aren’t any fully dedicated GF bakeries, and only a handful of spots offer anything at all. That said, if you’re craving a treat, there is somewhere worth stopping by.
Be Sweet Café
Be Sweet Café is one of the few spots in Dublin with gluten-free dessert options. They offer brownies, carrot cake, and macarons, making it a perfect stop if you’re craving something sweet.
Final Tips & Takeaways for Gluten Free in Dublin

If we had to pick our top three spots in Dublin, it would be The Brazen Head—not just for the food, but for the incredible history—followed by Zizzi’s and Pacino’s for their delicious gluten-free options and cozy atmospheres.
The good news? Dublin is one of the easier European cities for gluten-free dining. Plenty of restaurants, cafés, and pubs understand celiac needs, so there are always options beyond this guide.
Bottom line: whether you’re craving traditional Irish fare, Italian comfort food, or a sweet treat, you won’t go hungry eating gluten-free in Dublin.
